Recently, hubby and I gave up drinking soda in an effort to eat healthier. At first we were extremely tired, even with drinking coffee. I am also somewhat of a water snob. Well, not really a snob, per se, but I can taste differences in waters. I know, it seems weird. We have a water filter that I love and it does a great job filtering out the chemical taste in our local water. However, I still was craving something that would keep my drink cold and make it taste a little more exciting. I didn't want to get into drink mixes, since they're made out of chemicals that probably aren't too good for me either.
I turned to the lemon. You always seem to get a lemon wedge on the side of your glass of water at restaurants, so why not use it to improve my water now?
I sliced up a lemon and filled a cupcake pan with water. I then placed a lemon slice in each space and placed in the freezer for about an hour. Once they were frozen, I knocked the bottom of the pan on the counter to loosen the ice cubes up. I placed the ice cubes in a plastic bag in the freezer and used them as needed.
They worked great! The ice cube fit perfectly in my glass and kept my drink cold. Once the lemon started to melt, it added a nice touch of lemon to the water. Plus, it was a nice cheery color when I looked down into the glass. It has definitely helped me not sneak any soda. I'm almost out, so I better go make some more!
