Yum...Edible Snowflakes

In case you hadn't noticed, we may get snow around here in the winter. (Hence all the snowman/snowflake themed posts.) I was tired of making cookies after the Christmas, but was looking for something snowflake themed to eat. I had some tortillas in the fridge and viola!, edible snowflakes.

You will need:

  • Tortillas
  • Non-stick spray or Canola oil
  • Powdered sugar, cinnamon and sugar
  • Cookie sheet
  • Sharp scissors
Directions:
1. Microwave a tortilla until it's softened. For a regular tortilla, it's about 10 seconds. I found the wheat tortillas do better with 11-12 seconds.
2. Fold tortilla in half. Fold over in half again to create a triangle shape.
3. Use the kitchen scissors to cut a design into the tortilla, but make sure not to cut all the edges off.
4. Unfold and place on cookie sheet.
5. Spray evenly with an oil spray (non-stick). DM Alternative: You could also brush on canola oil.
6. Bake at 400 degrees F, for about 8 minutes or until golden. Flip about halfway through. If you are topping with cinnamon sugar, sprinkle on after you flip at the halfway mark.
7. Remove from oven, place on plate or tray. If desired, dust with powdered sugar.
